Blues win fourth straight
St. Louis secured a 2-1 home victory over Edmonton Wednesday night to improve to 22-8-6 on the season. After a scoreless first period, Brayden Schenn gave the Blues a 1-0 advantage with 11:56 left in the second period on a goal assisted by Vince Dunn and Jaden Schwartz. Mackenzie MacEachern pushed it to a 2-0 lead in the third period with a goal at the 13:37 mark assisted by Ryan O’Reilly and David Perron. The Oilers pulled within 2-1 with 1:50 remaining, but was unable to find the equalizer. Jake Allen made 35 saves on 36 shots in the winning effort.
Sharks edged by Coyotes
San Jose fell 3-2 at home Tuesday night versus Arizona to drop to 16-18-2 on the season. Tomas Hertl tied it up at 1-1 with 2:34 left in the first period for the Sharks with an assist going to Erik Karlsson. After falling behind 2-1 in the second period, San Jose evened it up again on a Hertl goal assisted by Brent Burns at the 6:05 mark of the second. The Coyotes scored what turned out to be the game-winner with 2:37 to play in the third period. Aaron Dell allowed three goals on 19 shots in the losing effort.
NHL Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Blues are 4-0 in their last four games overall. St. Louis is 7-2 in its last nine games versus the Pacific Division.
San Jose
The Sharks are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games. San Jose is 1-7 in its last eight games overall.
Prediction:
It’s been a rough season for the Sharks complete with a head coaching change already. With a leaky back end and the fact they are facing a strong defensive team, I don’t like this matchup for San Jose. The Sharks can score goals, but the Blues are certainly going to make it tough in that regard tonight and I expect the Blues to have no issues finding the back of the net enough to post the road win.
