Flames dominate host Blues
Calgary won its third straight game and eighth out of nine Sunday with a 7-2 victory at St. Louis. The Flames (22-10-2) scored four times in the first period to take a 4-0 advantage through 20 minutes to take full control of the contest. Johnny Gaudreau paced Calgary with two goals plus an assist, while Alan Quine also scored two goals. Elias Lindholm contributed a goal and an assist. Matthew Tkachuk and Mark Giordano each tallied a goal and an assist. David Rittich saved 26 of 28 shots to earn the win in net.
Stars unable to rally past Avs
Dallas (16-14-3) fell behind 3-0 through one period Saturday night at Colorado before eventually rallying to tie it at 4-4 in the third period on a goal by Jamie Benn, his 13th of the season. Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov assisted on the score. Seguin had previously scored to make it a one-goal contest in the third as Taylor Fedun and Radulov assisted. Esa Lindell notched the Stars’ first goal while shorthanded in the second period on assists from Mattias Janmark and Fedun. Seguin scored an unassisted goal a minute later to make it 3-2 at that point. Anton Khubodin allowed three goals on 20 shots before being yanked. Ben Bishop surrendered two goals on 16 shots the rest of the way.
NHL Betting Trends
Calgary
The Flames are 5-0 in their last five games versus a team with a losing record. Calgary is 0-4 in the last four meetings.
Dallas
The Stars have lost four in a row. Dallas is 4-0 in its last four home games.
Prediction:
Dallas is cold, but coming home to a place where it plays much better. Calgary is on fire, but has a long way to travel and is facing a tougher opponent than it saw on Sunday. I’m not sure if Calgary should be the favored team here. I’m going to side with the hosts as a small underdog and I wouldn’t be surprised if this line shifts more toward a pick’em.
