Islanders edge Red Wings
New York snapped a two-game losing skid with a 4-3 shootout win at home over the Red Wings Saturday night. The lone score in the shootout came via Mathew Barzal as he sent the hosts to the win. After the Islanders (15-12-4) fell behind 1-0 in the first period, Anthony Beauvillier evened it up with a goal on assists from Barzal and Josh Bailey. Detroit added another goal to take a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes. New York scored twice in the third to grab a 3-2 lead, with the equalizer coming via Barzal on the power play with Anders Lee and Nick Leddy assisting. Casey Cizikas gave the Islanders the lead on a goal assisted by Cal Clutterback and Matt Martin. Detroit proceeded to even the score at 3-3 with 1:03 left to force overtime. Thomas Greiss made 18 saves on 21 shots in the win.

Colorado secured a 6-4 victory at home Saturday night over the Stars to improve to 18-9-6 on the season. The Avalanche grabbed a 3-0 advantage through one period and held off a rally in which Dallas cut it to a 4-3 game early in the third. NHL Betting Trends
New York
The Islanders are 0-7 in their last seven games versus the Central Division. New York is 1-8 in its last nine Monday games.
Colorado
The over is 6-0 in the last six Avalanche games. Colorado is 4-0 in its last four home games versus the Islanders.
Prediction:
There are a lot of factors working against New York here, several of which are right above in the betting trends. The Islanders haven’t found a way to win in Colorado lately and are struggling in general, with a narrow shootout win all that is keeping them from a three-game losing streak. I can’t endorse the underdogs tonight.
