Maple Leafs ease past Hurricanes

Toronto (21-9-1) ended a two-game losing skid Tuesday night with a 4-1 win at the Hurricanes. Morgan Rielly broke a 1-1 tie in the second period with his 10th goal of the season on assists from Auston Matthews and William Nylander. Patrick Marleau padded the lead in the third period with Nylander and Nazrem Kadri assisting. John Tavares completed the scoring on assists from Mitch Marner and Jake Gardiner. In the first period, Tyler Ennis opened the scoring with assists going to Frederik Gauthier and Travis Dermott. Frederik Andersen picked up the win in net as he turned away 29 of 30 shots.

Lightning double up Rangers

Tampa Bay secured its seventh straight victory Monday night with a 6-3 triumph at home over New York. Ryan McDonagh scored in the second period to break a 2-2 tie and the Lightning scored three more goals in the third period to put it away. Steven Stamkos had a hat trick in the win as he now has 15 goals on the season. Anthony Cirelli scored the other two goals. J.T. Miller, Brayden Point and Victor Hedman all notched two assists. Louis Domingue recorded 23 saves on 26 shots to earn the win.

NHL Betting Trends

Toronto

The Maple Leafs are 1-4 in the last five meetings. Toronto is 12-4 in its last 16 road games.

Tampa Bay

The Lightning are 22-7 in their last 29 road games. Tampa Bay is 37-15 in its last 52 games overall.

Prediction:

All winning streaks come to an end and it could happen against much worse foes than the Maple Leafs. Toronto is going to want to make a statement here and has the firepower to get it done. The total is set crazy high and I'd still consider the over before the under here. Do you really want to bet on these two teams NOT scoring goals? But I think Toronto will be amped up here and I'm betting on the visitors to get the win.
