Wild vs. Sharks Pick
Are the host San Jose Sharks the right play tonight versus the Minnesota Wild at 9PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Sharks are listed as a -140 favorite on the moneyline. The Wild are a +120 underdog, while the over-under is 5.5 goals.
Minnesota comes in with a 14-11-2-1 record after a 3-2 overtime win at the Ducks on Friday night. San Jose is 16-10-1-1 following a 5-0 home win Saturday over the Senators. The Wild went 3-0 in three meetings last season. The over-under went 1-1-1.
In the victory at Anaheim, Matt Dumba scored the game-winning goal in overtime off an assist from Charlie Coyle. Zach Mitchell and Jason Zucker each scored a goal in the win, while Zucker also dished out an assist. Devan Dubnyk made 26 saves on 28 shots. Minnesota led 2-1 through two periods before allowing the game-tying goal with 6:25 left.
San Jose was paced by goaltender Aaron Dell as he saved all 25 shots sent his way to notch the shutout. Logan Couture tallied a goal and two assists to lead the offense. Tomas Hertl, Melker Karlsson and Joe Pavelski and Marc-Edouard Vlasic each had one goal apiece. Pavelski also recorded an assist. Brent Burns and Kevin Labanc each accounted for two assists. The Sharks led 3-0 through two periods and added a pair of insurance goals in the third.
Minnesota is 4-15 in its last 19 meetings in San Jose. The home team is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings.
The Sharks dominated at home one night ago, but now face a back-to-back against a solid Minnesota squad coming off a big win of its own two days ago. Minnesota dominated the meetings last season and with San Jose in a tough situation with no rest, I like Dubnyk and the Wild to keep the hosts at bay and pull off another good road win.
