Oilers vs. Bruins Pick
Can the visiting Edmonton Oilers upset the Boston Bruins this evening at 5PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Bruins are a -135 favorite on the moneyline. The Oilers are are +122 underdog, while the over-under sits at 5.5 goals.
Edmonton enters with an 8-13-2 record after a 3-1 loss at the Sabres on Friday night. Boston is 10-7-4 following a 4-3 victory over the Penguins Friday night. Edmonton won both meetings last season, while the total went over in both games.
The Oilers’ lone goal was scored by Yohann Auvitu in the loss at Buffalo. It was unassisted. Laurent Brossoit made 28 out of 30 saves in net. Edmonton trailed 1-0 through two periods and gave up two more in the third before the Auvitu goal with only 20 seconds left avoided the shutout.
In the Bruins’ win over Pittsburgh, David Krejci tallied a goal and an assist. Matt Grzelcyk, Sean Kuraly and David Pastrnak added one goal apiece. Jamie DeBrusk dished out two assists. Pastrnak scored the game-winning goal, his 11th of the season, with 14:54 left in the third period.
The home team is 5-2 in the last seven meetings. Edmonton is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings in Boston.
Edmonton has been one of the NHL’s bigger disappointments. This team should be better when a super talent like Connor McDavid is on the roster, but for whatever reason nothing is clicking. It’s hard to trust the Oilers on the road here against a team playing some pretty good hockey.
