Lightning have four-game win-streak snapped
Tampa Bay lost by a score of 4-3 Friday night versus Winnipeg to drop to 9-6-2 on the season. The Lightning trailed 1-0 in the first period before Victor Hedman tied it up with 49 seconds left on a goal assisted by Steven Stamkos. The Jets scored twice in the second period to take a 3-1 advantage through 40 minutes. Stamkos cut it to 3-2 with 2:16 remaining in the contest with assists going to Hedman and Anthony Cirelli. Winnipeg made it a two-goal lead again 48 seconds later. Cirelli cut it back to 4-3 with 22 seconds left on the clock on assists from Alex Killorn and Nikita Kucherov. Andrei Vasiveskiy registered 23 saves on 26 shots in the defeat.
Blues drop third straight
St. Louis lost 4-1 at home Saturday night against Anaheim to drop to 12-4-5 on the season. The Blues trailed 2-0 through one period, but got on the board via a Vince Dunn goal at the 16:46 mark of the second period with assists courtesy of Zach Sanford and Robert Bortuzzo. The Ducks added another goal four minutes later and scored the clincher with 1:39 remaining in the third period. Jordan Binnington surrendered three goals on 24 shots in the defeat.
NHL Betting Trends
The Lightning are 14-6 in their last 20 Saturday games. Tampa Bay is 57-25 in its last 82 games overall.
The Blues are 21-7 in their last 28 games as an underdog. St. Louis is 8-3 in its last 11 Tuesday games.
The Blues have slumped lately, but have shown the ability to rise to the occasion as proven by their Stanley Cup championship. The Lightning have looked vulnerable at times this season and if St. Louis can play a clean but physical game while being organized on the back end, I see a path to a win for the hosts here.
