Rangers fall to Panthers in shootout
New York lost a 6-5 decision at home Sunday against Florida to drop to 7-6-2 on the season. The Rangers lost the shootout 2-1 as only Kaapo Kakko tickled the twine for the hosts. Ryan Lindgren gave New York a 1-0 lead 5:06 into the contest with assists going to Ryan Strome and Artemi Panarin. The Panthers scored twice late in the first to take a 2-1 advantage. The Rangers evened the score on a Filip Chytil goal 1:28 into the second period with assists courtesy of Pavel Buchnevich and Chris Kreider. Florida took a 3-2 lead at the 15:18 mark of the second, but New York answered less than a minute later on a Brady Skjei unassisted goal. Kakko scored on the power play two minutes after that to give the home team a 4-3 lead with assists going to Strome and Tony DeAngelo. The Panthers tied it again at 4-4 a minute later, but Kreider scored on the power play with 1:25 to go in the second to put the Rangers back ahead with assists from Adam Fox and Panarin. NHL Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Penguins are 4-0 in their last four games as a favorite. Pittsburgh is 6-2 in its last eight games following a win.
New York
The Rangers are 4-1 in their last five games as an underdog. New York is 6-13 in its last 19 home games.
Prediction:
This New York team has some fight and did get to stay at home after losing Sunday. Look for another strong Rangers effort, but this time ending in a win. The Penguins narrowly beat a mediocre Blackhawks squad at home a few days ago and now draw a tougher matchup on the road. I like New York to get the job done tonight.
