Rangers notch fourth straight win
New York improved to 7-7-1 Tuesday night for its fourth straight win, a 5-3 home triumph over the Canadiens. The Rangers trailed 3-1 before a goal late in the second plus three more in the third turned the contest in their favor. Chris Kreider, Tony DeAngelo, Pavel Buchnevich, Neal Pionk and Mika Zibanejad scored the goals for the hosts. Kevin Hayes dished out an assist, while Kreider and Zibanejad also had an assist to go with their goal. Henrik Lundqvist allowed three goals on 34 shots to pick up the win.
Wings edge Canucks at home
Detroit secured a 3-2 shootout victory at home Tuesday night over Vancouver to improve to 5-8-2 on the season. Dylan Larkin found the back of the net in the shootout to send the Red Wings to the win. Justin Abdelkader scored an unassisted power play goal in the second period to bring the hosts within a 2-1 score, while Gustav Nyquist scored at the 18:23 mark of the third period to even the score at two goals apiece. Jacob De La Rose assisted on the Nyquist tally. Jimmy Howard made 40 saves on 42 shots to pick up the win.
NHL Betting Trends
New York
The over is 4-1 in the last five Rangers games versus the Eastern Conference. The under is 17-5-5 in the last 27 meetings.
Detroit
The Red Wings are 0-5 in their last five Friday games. Detroit is 10-3 in the last 13 home meetings versus New York.
Prediction:
Both teams are playing well right now, but also neither is a very good team. I trust the Rangers a bit more in this spot as they have a few talented veterans up front and have the better goaltender plus a competent defense. The Red Wings are always a good fade when they have a favorable line. Go with New York tonight.
