Penguins fall at home to Devils

Pittsburgh managed only one goal Monday night in a 5-1 home defeat against the New Jersey Devils. Jamie Oleksiak scored his fourth goal of the season to even the score at 1-1 with 10:36 left in the first period before New Jersey scored four unanswered goals. Ollie Maata and Jake Guentzel assisted on the goal. Matt Murray allowed four goals on 27 shots to take the loss before being yanked. Casey DeSmith saved 11 of 12 shots the rest of the way.

Caps double up Oilers

Washington secured a 4-2 home win over Edmonton Monday night to improve to 6-4-3 on the season. Jakub Vrana, Devante Smith-Pelly, T.J. Oshie and Alex Ovechkin all scored a goal in the win. The goals by Vrana and Smith-Pelly gave the Capitals a 2-0 lead in the first period and the hosts held on from there. Smith-Pelly also had an assist, while Travis Boyed and John Carlson both notched two assists. Pheonix Copley saved 31 of 33 shots to pick up the win.

NHL Betting Trends

The Penguins are 0-4 in their last four games versus the Eastern Conference. The under is 3-0-1 in the last four Pittsburgh games following a loss by three or more goals.

The Capitals are 0-5 in their last five games following a win. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Washington.

There should be plenty of offense here and I like the Penguins to bounce back after a rough showing Monday night. Look for some offensive tweaks combined with a better effort out of Murray to record the road win. Washington has struggled to put two wins together and I think that will continue here.
