Flames fall at Kings

Calgary lost by a score of 4-1 Saturday night at Los Angeles to drop to 4-4-1 on the season. The Flames trailed 4-0 through two periods before finally getting on the board at the 2:10 mark of the third period on an unassisted Mikael Backlund goal. David Rittich took the loss as he surrendered four goals on 28 shots. Cam Talbot came on in relief and stopped all eight shots sent his way.

Ducks double up Hurricanes

Anaheim secured a 4-2 home victory over Carolina Friday night to improve to 6-2-0 on the season. Adam Henrique opened the scoring 4:06 in with assists going to Rickard Rakell and Ondrej Kase to make it 1-0 Ducks. Troy Terry pushed it to 2-0 later in the second off assists from Cam Fowler and Sam Steel. Jakob Silfvergerg pushed it to 3-0 in the third off a goal assisted by Michael del Zotto. Carter Rowney made it 4-0 on a shorthanded goal with assists going to Rakell and Hampus Lindholm. The Hurricanes scored two goals to close the gap, but could not draw any closer. Ryan Miller secured 22 saves on 24 shots to notch the save.

NHL Betting Trends

The Flames are 38-14 in their last 52 Sunday games. Calgary is 2-6 in its last eight games played on zero days of rest.

The Ducks are 5-0 in their last five games verus the Pacific Division. Anaheim is 7-0 in its last seven home games.

Anaheim has been one of the surprises of the NHL so far this season, but perhaps it shouldn't be so surprising as the Ducks were beat up with injuries last season. Now much healthier, the results are showing. With Calgary on the second end of a back-to-back, it's hard not to like Anaheim in this spot. With John Gibson having a tremendous start to the season in net, I trust him to get the job done again tonight as the Ducks record another win.
