Philadelphia is now 2-1-0 on the season after a 3-2 overtime victory at the Ducks Saturday night. Nashville is 0-2-0 after a 4-0 loss at the Penguins Saturday night. The two meetings were split last season as the road team won both games, the Flyers winning 4-2 and the Predators returning the favor with a 2-1 shootout victory.
On Saturday night, Philadelphia received goals from Ivan Provorov and Sean Couturier in regulation before Wayne Simmonds scored the game-winner in overtime. It was the fourth goal of the young season for Simmonds. Brian Elliott made 21 saves on 23 shots to post the win.
Nashville could not get untracked Saturday as all 26 of its shots were stopped. Juuse Saros allowed four goals on 34 shots, while Mattias Ekholm and PK Subban were both minus-3.
Nashville is strong defensively despite it not showing in two games thus far this season. The Predators will look to get back to their winning formula here against a Flyers team that has looked strong in the early going, but still has some flaws. We like Nashville to take this one on its home ice.
