Chicago prevails in OT

The Blackhawks won by a 4-3 final in overtime at Ottawa in their season opener as Patrick Kane scored the game-winner 38 seconds into the extra session. Kane also notched an assist in the win. Jonathan Toews registered a goal and an assist, while Alex DeBrincat and Brent Seabrook both scored a goal. Cam Ward made 22 saves on 25 shots to pick up the win.

Blues hammered by Jets

St. Louis took one on the chin in its opener as it fell 5-1 at home versus Winnipeg. The Blues allowed four third-period goals to fall behind 5-0 before scoring a late goal to avoid the shutout. Vince Dunn scored the goal for St. Louis on assists from Ryan O'Reilly and Tyler Bozak. Jake Allen surrendered five goals on 25 shots to suffer the loss.

NHL Betting Trends

The Blackhawks are 1-7 in their last eight games following a win. The over is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings in St. Louis.

St. Louis

The Blues are 1-6 in their last seven games overall. St. Louis is 2-10 in its last 12 games versus the Central Division.

Chicago had a poor season a year ago and a lot had to do with lackluster goaltending following an injury to Corey Crawford. While the Blackhawks are hoping to get Crawford back at some point, but right now he is on injured reserve. I think goaltending lets Chicago down here as St. Louis is looking to bounce back strong after being walloped in its opener.
