Golden Knights roll in season opener

Las Vegas rolled to a 4-1 victory at home Wednesday night over San Jose in its season opener. Mark Stone gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead 3:46 into the first period on an unassisted goal, while Reilly Smith scored less than two minutes later off an assist by Willliam Karlsson. The Sharks trimmed the scored to 2-1 later in the first, but two-plus minutes into the second saw Cody Glass push it back to a two-goal lead on assists by Max Pacioretty and Stone. Smith added an insurance goal in the third period with an assist going to Karlsson. Marc-Andre Fleury registered 21 saves on 22 shots to pick up the win.

Sharks fall flat on road

San Jose dropped a 4-1 decision Wednesday night at Las Vegas in its season opener. Marcus Sorensen scored the lone goal for the Sharks with 7:46 remaining in the first period to make it 2-1 at that point. Logan Couture and Brent Burns assisted on the goal. Martin Jones registered 31 saves on 35 shots in the losing effort.

NHL Betting Trends

Las Vegas

The Golden Knights are 6-2 in their last eight Friday games. Las Vegas is 2-6 in its last eight versus the Pacific Division.

San Jose

The Sharks are 1-4 in their last five games played on one day of rest. San Jose is 0-4 in its last four games versus the Western Conference.

I'll take a little bit of that home cooking, revenge factor, and home opener all rolled into one neat package. The Sharks aren't getting a lot of respect from oddsmakers here and while Las Vegas is a very talented team, I like San Jose to bounce back here as its veteran core knows how to respond to tough losses and make necessary adjustments.
