Crosby favored to win Hart Trophy
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The three finalists have been announced for the 2014 Hart Memorial Trophy in the NHL – now here are their odds to win.
Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks and Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers are the three finalists for the 2013-14 Hart Memorial Trophy, which will be announced on June 24. The trophy is awarded annually to the “player judged most valuable to his team” for that NHL season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Crosby is the clear favorite at 1/100 to win the Hart Memorial Trophy this year, while Ryan Getzlaf has the next-best odds at 12/1 and Claude Giroux has the longest odds at 25/1. Alexander Ovechkin won the award a year ago with the Washington Capitals.
This is the fourth time Crosby has been nominated for the award, which he won in 2006-07. As for Getzlaf and Giroux, neither have won the award and this is the first time they’ve been nominated. Corey Perry was the last Ducks player to win the award back in 2010-11, while Eric Lindros was the last Flyers player to win, which occurred in 1994-95.
Crosby scored 36 goals and racked up 68 assists in a 104-point season for the Pens. Getzlaf, meanwhile, scored 31 goals and added 56 assists in 77 games for the Ducks, while Giroux notched 28 goals and 58 assists for the Flyers over the course of 82 games.
