Bruins win the Stanley Cup
(TheSpread) – The Boston Bruins won their first Stanley Cup since 1972 as they beat the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.
The Bruins hit the road for Game 7, but really showed why they were the better team all series by dominating with a 4-0 victory. Boston scored 23 goals in the series while the Canucks had just 8. Boston goalie Tim Thomas earned the Conn Smythe Trophy for his outstanding series.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog Boston had 7/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup entering this year’s playoffs, meaning a $100 wager on the Bruins will pay out an additional $700.
Boston began its march to the Cup with a 7-game series victory over Montreal in the first round. Boston then followed up with a sweep of Philadelphia in the second round before beating Tampa Bay in 7 games in the conference finals.
