The Bruins victimized Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo on Wednesday night, touching him up for four goals on just 20 shots. It was Luongo’s second straight poor performance and it led to the Canucks replacing him in net with Cory Schneider. Schneider saved all nine shots that he faced but Boston still prevailed 4-0 and evened up the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals at two games apiece.
For Game 5 on Friday night, oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Canucks –174 money line favorites over the Bruins, who are +160 on the ML. The over/under total is currently sitting at 5 goals for tonight’s 8:00PM ET start time.
The Canucks opened at –175 on the money line at most books, so you can see that the odds have not shifted much thus far. Of the 700-plus wagers on tonight’s game, 61% of NHL public bettors currently favor Boston +160, which is interesting considering that most public bettors don’t favor the underdog. (Especially when the favorite is a clear favorite like the Canucks are tonight.)
According to latest NHL trends, the under is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings between these two teams in Vancouver and it’s 5-1-2 in the last eight meetings between these two teams overall. The favorite is 4-0 in the last four meetings, while the home team is 4-0 in the last four meetings as well. The Canucks won both of their home games (Games 1 and 2) so far in this series.
