Sharks vs. Penguins Game 1 Pick
The 2016 Stanley Cup Final gets underway tonight when the Pittsburgh Penguins host the San Jose Sharks at 8PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Penguins are favored in Game 1. Pittsburgh is getting a money line of -150 to win, while the Sharks are given a money line of +135 to win on the road. The over/under total for the game is listed at 5.5 goals.
Pittsburgh is 60-36-10 overall, 33-13-5 at home and 45-37 with the over. San Jose is 58-33-9 overall, 33-12-5 on the road and 51-38 with the over. These two met twice this season, with the road team winning both games. However, these two haven’t faced off since December 1st.
Although these teams split in the regular season, San Jose won their game on the road. Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton lead an extremely talented team. Goaltender Martin Jones has recorded three shutouts in the last seven games and will be the difference against rookie Matt Murray, who could be a little nervous in his first Stanley Cup game.
