Royals down Yankees in 10 innings

Kansas City earned an 8-7 victory at home in 10 innings Sunday afternoon over New York to improve to 18-34 overall and 11-17 at home. Whit Merrifield singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning in the form of Billy Hamilton. It was the only hit for Merrifield in six at-bats. Hunter Dozier paced the Royals offense as he was 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Martin Maldonado was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Jorge Soler went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs. Ryan O'Hearn ended the contest 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Kevin McCarthy picked up the win in relief as he walked one in a scoreless inning of work. Homer Bailey will start tonight for the Royals as he enters with a 4-5 record, 6.13 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with 44 strikeouts over 47 innings.

White Sox shut out at Twins

Chicago was shut out on five hits Sunday afternoon in a 7-0 loss at Minnesota to drop to 23-29 overall and 12-16 on the road. A four-run third inning put the Twins firmly in front and the White Sox were unable to mount any rally. Charlie Tilson helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-4. Yolmer Sanchez was 1-for-3 plus a walk. Yoan Moncada and Yonder Alonso each finished 1-for-4. Dylan Covey took the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings.Ivan Nova starts tonight for the White Sox as he comes in with a 3-4 record, 6.96 ERA and 1.77 WHIP with 35 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Kansas City

The Royals are 3-7 in their last last games. Kansas City is 22-55 in its last 77 road games.

The White Sox are 5-1 in their last six Monday games. Chicago is 4-1 in the last five Nova starts.

Neither starting pitcher gives a lot of confidence, but Nova has shown signs of turning the corner as he's been sharp in three of his last four starts and helped Chicago to some wins. Bailey is probably going to give up a couple home runs here and after KC enjoyed its walk-off win yesterday, I suspect there will be a letdown today after traveling to Chicago.
