Blues even up series

St. Louis picked up a 2-1 home victory Friday night at home over San Jose to even up the Western Conference Finals at 2-2. Ivan Barbashev scored 35 seconds into the game on an unassisted goal to put the Blues on the board. Tyler Bozak made it 2-0 with 2:07 remaining in the first on the power play off assists from Patrick Maroon and Victor Tarasenko. The Sharks cut their deficit in half in the third period, but were unable to find the equalizer. Jordan Binnington registered 29 saves on 30 shots in the winning effort.

Sharks unable to rally on road

San Jose lost 2-1 at St. Louis Friday night in the Western Conference Finals as the series was evened up at 2-2. The Sharks trailed 2-0 through two periods before a goal by Tomas Hertl on the power play at the 13:12 mark of the third period pulled them within one goal. Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson assisted on the score. San Jose could not find the back of the net again to send it to the loss. Martin Jones recorded 20 saves on 22 shots in the defeat.

NHL Betting Trends

St. Louis

The Blues are 8-2 in their last 10 games as an underdog. The road team is 2-7 in the last nine meetings.

San Jose

The Sharks are 9-3 in their last 12 games as a home favorite. San Jose is 17-8 in its last 25 games versus the Central Division.

This series has been back-and-forth and I expect that to continue here. I think the early start time will impact the visitors more and the Sharks usually find their way to enough offense at home. While we might be looking at a Game 7 back here later this week, I think San Jose gets the job done today behind a strong effort from Jones in net.
