Sharks doubled up at home
San Jose lost 4-2 at home Monday night against St. Louis as the series fell into a 1-1 tie. The Sharks trailed 2-0 in the second period until Logan Couture put the hosts on the board via a an unassisted shorthanded goal at the 15:05 mark. Couture then proceeded to tie the score at 2-2 two minutes later on a goal assisted by Timo Meier. The Blues scored the go-ahead goal later in the second before adding an insurance goal in the third period. Martin Jones surrendered four goals on 25 shots in the losing effort.
Blues even up series at 1-1
St. Louis earned a 4-2 victory Monday night at San Jose to even the Western Conference Finals at 1-1. Jaden Schwartz put the Blues on the board 2:34 in on a goal assisted by Vladimir Tarasenko and Joel Edmundson. Vince Dunn pushed the advantage to 2-0 in the second period on a goal with assists coming from Ryan O’Reilly and David Perron. NHL Betting Trends
San Jose
The Sharks are 8-3 in their last 11 games overall. San Jose is 5-2 in the last seven meetings.
St. Louis
The Blues are 17-6 in their last 23 home games. The favorite is 5-2 in the last seven meetings.
Prediction:
The Sharks’ explosive offense was stagnated in Game 2 and now in St. Louis, that might not change much. Binnington is the better goalie in this matchup, although Jones has stepped up in big moments. Even so, I like how St. Louis is playing on both ends of the ice and are much more likely to grind out a win than San Jose. Look for it to be a frustrating night for the Sharks as St. Louis rises to the occasion at home.
