(The Spread) – The Western Conference Finals begin tonight as two teams with a lengthy history of coming up short in the NHL Playoffs in the San Jose Sharks and the Vancouver Canucks have a chance to put their past failures to rest.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Canucks -170 favorites in tonight’s matchup and the visiting Sharks are +150 underdogs. The over-under is set at 5.5 for the 8:05PM EST start.
Vancouver was given a lot to handle from the Nashville Predators in its semifinal series, but eventually won Game 6 2-1 on the road to clinch the series. San Jose nearly blew its series with the Detroit Red Wings as it blew a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven before winning Game 7 3-2.
Ryan Kesler leads the Canucks in playoff scoring with five goals and 15 assists, while goalie Roberto Luongo has posted a 2.25 goals-against average in 12 starts. San Jose’s Ryane Clowe has four goals and nine assists in 12 games to pace his squad, while Antti Niemi has a 3.01 GAA in 13 games.
According to the latest NHL trends, San Jose is 7-5 against the spread versus Vancouver over the last three seasons. Seven of 12 games in this series have gone over the total during the last three seasons.
