Bruins score twice in each period

Boston led 6-0 in the third period Sunday afternoon en route to a 6-2 home victory over Carolina to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 Western Conference Finals. Matt Grzelcyk put the Bruins on the board at the 4:38 mark of the first period on a goal assisted by Marcus Johansson and Charlie Coyle. Jake DeBrusk made it 2-0 on the power play three minutes later on a goal with assists going to David Pastrnak and Torey Krug. Connor Clifton pushed it to 3-0 3:46 into the second period via a goal assisted by Johansson and Danton Heinen. Grzelcyk pushed the lead to four goals as his power play tally was assisted by Coyle and Krug. David Backes made it a 5-0 game 1:10 into the third period as his goal came on assists from David Krejci and Krug. Heinen scored the last goal three-plus minutes later off assists by Patrice Bergeron and Coyle. The Hurricanes finally got on the board later in the third, but their two goals were much too little too late. Tuukka Rask gave up two goals on 23 shots in the winning effort.

Hurricanes throttled in Game 2

Carolina fell by a 6-2 score Sunday afternoon in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals at Boston. The Hurricanes trailed 6-0 in the third period before Justin Williams put them on the board at the 8:43 mark with his fourth goal of the postseason assisted by Justin Faulk and Sebastian Aho. Teuvo Teravainen added an unassisted goal with 2:28 remaining to account for Carolina's second score. Petr Mrazek suffered the loss as he gave up six goals on 25 shots in the defeat.

NHL Betting Trends

The Bruins are 27-8 in their last 35 Tuesday games. Boston is 4-1 in its lsat five games as a road underdog.

The Hurricanes are 23-5 in their last 28 games as a favorite. Carolina is 1-7 in the last eight meetings.

Boston rolled in the first two games, but Carolina has been stellar at home and has a good track record this season as the favorites. The Hurricanes are in a must-win situation and in front of what should be an outstanding home crowd, I think the Hurricanes win this one to get back into the series.
