After falling behind 2-0 in the series, Anaheim got on the board in Edmonton in Game 3 on Sunday with a 6-3 victory. Still, the Oilers have won five of eight meetings with the Ducks this season. Anaheim is 51-25-13 overall and 20-15-9 on the road while Edmonton is 53-28-10 overall and 27-13-5 at home.
The Ducks took a 3-0 lead in Game 3 thanks to goals from Rickard Rakell, Jakob Silfverberg and Ryan Getzlaf in the first period. The Oilers would manage to tie the game up at 3-3 in the second period, but the Ducks regrouped and scored the last three goals. Silfverberg scored one of the final three for his second goal of the game. John Gibson still had a shaky game in net for the Ducks, stopping just 24 shots, but Cam Talbot really struggled. He stopped just 22 of the 28 shots he faced.
The Oilers struggled in Game 3, but I don’t expect Talbot to have back-to-back poor showings at home. Anaheim still has a problem with Gibson, who hasn’t had a good outing in the entire series. That should continue no matter what the Anaheim skaters do. The Oilers haven’t lost back-to-back games at home in two months. I don’t think that will happen again tonight.
