The Ducks are the top seed in the Pacific region while the Kings are the third seed. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, this series is even, as each team has been given odds of -110 to win this series against the other.

Anaheim won the Pacific Division title this year, going 54-20-8, earning a total of 116 points. The Ducks went 29-8-4 at home this season, which was the most wins of any Western Conference team at home. The Ducks were 25-12-4 on the road. Anaheim scored a total of 266 goals this year while allowing 209. The 266 goals was the second most of any team in the NHL. The Ducks defeated the Dallas Stars in the opening round in six games. Anaheim won the first two and final two games of the series.

Los Angeles lost the first three games of the series, but rallied to win four straight, outscoring the Sharks 18-5 in the four games.

These two teams met five times during the regular season, with Anaheim winning four of the five games. Four of the games were decided by one goal. The Ducks scored a total of 13 goals in the five goals, while the Kings posted 8 goals. The two scored five goals or less in four of the five meetings.
