Sharks double up Avs in Game 3
San Jose won by a count of 4-2 Tuesday night in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals at Colorado. The Sharks grabbed a 1-0 advantage with 4:36 left in the first period on a Logan Couture goal off assists by Gustav Nyquist and Timo Meier. Meier added an unassisted goal with 1:18 left in the first to push San Jose’s advantage to 2-0. The Avalanche trimmed it to 2-1 through two periods and then proceeded to tie it up in the third period. The Sharks took the lead again with 7:10 remaining on a Couture goal assisted by Meier and Nyquist. Couture completed his hat trick with 30 seconds left on an empty net with an assist going to Melker Karlsson. Martin Jones gave up two goals on 27 shots in the winning effort between the pipes.
Avalanche’s rally falls short
Colorado came back from two goals down in the third period at home Tuesday night against San Jose, but ultimately fell 4-2 in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals. The Avalanche led 2-0 through one period, but trimmed it to 2-1 with 4:09 left in the second period on a Nathan MacKinnon goal with an assist going to Ian Cole. Matt Nieto tied it up with 8:15 to play in the third period on a goal off assists from Samuel Girard and Cale Makar. NHL Betting Trends
San Jose
The Sharks are 5-1 in their last six games overall. San Jose is 6-2 in its last eight games as a road underdog.
Colorado
The Avalanche are 18-39 in the last 57 meetings. Colorado is 8-1 in its last nine home games.
Prediction:
Colorado has been a surprise in the playoffs, but it’s possible their magic is starting to run out. San Jose came into the season with hopes of a deep postseason run and it has a chance to put a chokehold on this series tonight. The Sharks have been solid as a road dog and I think there is a lot of value on them here considering they are the better team.
