Bruins edged in Game 3
Boston lost by a count of 2-1 Tuesday night at Columbus in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The Bruins trailed 1-0 through one period and gave up an additional goal in the second period to make it 2-0. Boston cut the deficit in half with 40 seconds remaining in the second on a Jake DeBrusk goal off assists by David Krejci and Karson Kuhlman. The Bruins were unable to find the equalizer in a scoreless third period. Tuukka Rask surrendered two goals on 34 shots in the defeat.
Jenner, Duchene shine in win
Columbus secured a 2-1 victory Tuesday night at home over Boston to grab a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Eastern Conference semifinals. The Blue Jackets took a 1-0 advantage with 1:23 remaining in the first period on a Boone Jenner goal assisted by Riley Nash and Scott Harrington. With 7:18 to play in the second period, Matt Duchene pushed the lead to 2-0 on a goal off assists from Nick Foligno and Cam Atkinson. Boston managed to trim it to 2-1 later in the second period, but Columbus ultimately held on in a scoreless third period. Sergei Bobrovsky registered 36 saves on 37 shots in the winning effort.
NHL Betting Trends
Boston
The Bruins are 4-1 in their last five road games. Boston is 25-12 in its last 37 games overall.
Columbus
The Blue Jackets are 8-1 in their last nine home games. The home team is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.
Prediction:
Boston is in a tough spot here at a difficult road venue down a game in the series against a red-hot Columbus squad that has only dropped one playoff game out of seven played. While the Bruins might have entered the second round as the favorites to win a Stanley Cup, at this point the Blue Jackets look like they are as good as anyone left. When Bobrovsky is at his top form, Columbus is very difficult to beat. Look for a similar result tonight as in Game 3 in what should be another closely contested game.
