Blues notch Game 3 victory
St. Louis outlasted host Dallas 4-3 after a wild third period Monday night in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals. Jaden Schwartz gave the Blues a 1-0 advantage 1:27 into the game off assists by Colton Parayko and Ryan O’Reilly. The Stars tied it up later in the first, but in the second St. Louis took the lead again via a Tyler Bozak goal with assists going to Robert Thomas and Vince Dunn. Dallas tied it up in the third, but the Blues grabbed a 3-2 advantage with 5:36 remaining on an Alex Pietrangelo goal on assists courtesy of Jay Bouwmeester and Schwartz. The Stars tied it up a minute-plus later, yet with 1:38 remaining a Patrick Maroon goal gave the St. Louis the lead for good with assists recorded by Bouwmeester and Bozak. Jordan Binnington registered 28 saves on 31 shots in the victory.
Stars fall short at home
Dallas lost Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals at home by a score of 4-3 against St. Louis Monday night. After trailing 1-0 in the first period, Alexander Radulov tied it up at the 2:48 mark on the power play with assists going to Jason Spezza and Justin Dowling. The Blues took a 2-1 lead through two periods, yet Andrew Cogliano tied it again on a shorthanded goal with 6:54 left in the third period. St. Louis grabbed the lead again shortly thereafter, but a Tyler Seguin goal with 4:08 remaining evened it at 3-3 with assists coming from Miro Heiskanen and Mats Zuccarello. The Blues proceeded to score the game-winner with 1:38 left on the clock. Ben Bishop surrendered four goals on 34 shots in the losing effort.
NHL Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Blues are 4-0 in their last four road games. St. Louis is 5-0 in its last five games as a road underdog.
Dallas
The Stars are 4-1 in the last five home meetings. The home team is 2-5 in the last seven meetings.
Prediction:
This is probably going to be a back-and-forth series throughout and I expect the host Stars to bounce back from Monday’s loss. Dallas was only one or two key plays from a victory and it has a stellar goaltender in Bishop, who should rebound from the defeat. The Stars’ top line is always capable of a big game and I think it happens tonight to help the hosts even the series at 2-2.
