Hurricanes rally in third period
Carolina solved the New York defense for a pair of third-period goals Sunday afternoon on its way to a 2-1 victory in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. After trailing 1-0 through two periods, the Hurricanes tied it up at 1-1 17 seconds into the third period on a Warren Foegele goal assisted by Lucas Wallmark and Saku Maenalanen. Only 48 seconds later, Nino Niederreiter gave Carolina a 2-1 advantage on a goal assisted by Teuvo Teravainen and Jaccob Slavin. NHL Betting Trends
New York
The Islanders are 5-0 in their last five games as an underdog. The road team is 7-1 in the last eight meetings.
Carolina
The Hurricanes are 13-4 in their last 17 conference semifinals games. Carolina is 16-5 in its last 21 games as a home favorite.
Prediction:
New York has been stellar defensively this series, but manufacturing goals has been an issue. But with Mrazek out, don’t expect another shutout effort tonight from McElhinney. While he had a solid season with a .912 save percentage, he’s beatable and expect New York to solve him enough to slip by for an important road win.
