Sunday’s NHL Playoff Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The NHL Playoffs continue with a pair of Game 2’s Sunday as the San Jose Sharks host the Detroit Red Wings, while the Washington Capitals entertain the Tampa Bay Lightning.
First up is a 3:05PM EST start on the west coast between the Red Wings and the Sharks. San Jose took a 1-0 lead in the series Friday night as it downed Detroit 2-1 in overtime. Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Sharks -130 favorites for Game 2, while the Red Wings are +110 underdogs. The over-under is currently set at 5.5.
According to the latest NHL trends, San Jose is 11-7 against the spread versus Detroit over the last three seasons. Eleven of 18 games in this series have gone over the total during the last three seasons.
Benn Ferriero played the role of hero in front of the Sharks faithful as he scored the game-winner in overtime Friday on what was his brithday. Nicklas Lidstrom scored Detroit’s lone goal, while Joe Pavelski tied the game up in the third period to lead to the eventual extra session.
The second end of the Game 2 doubleheader is at 7:05PM EST as the Capitals try to rebound from a 4-2 loss to the Lightning in Game 1. The Capitals are -180 favorites and the Lightning are +160 underdogs on the money line. The over-under is set at 5.5.
According to the latest public betting information, 60 percent of bets are currently on the Washington Capitals.
