Blues doubled up in Game

St. Louis fell by a count of 4-2 Saturday afternoon in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals as Dallas evened the series at 1-1. The Stars grabbed a 2-0 advantage in the first period, but the Blues trimmed it in half with a Colton Parayko goal off assists by Ryan O'Reilly and David Perron at the 5:35 mark. Dallas extended it to 3-1 only 26 seconds later and led by that score through 20 minutes. After a scoreless second period, Jaden Schwartz cut it to 3-2 on a goal off a Parayko assist 1:51 into the third period. It remained at that score until a Stars empty-net goal with three seconds left. Jordan Binnington secured 31 saves on 34 shots in the defeat.

Stars even up series

Dallas won by a 4-2 score Saturday afternoon at St. Louis to tie the Western Conference semifinals series at a game apiece. Roope Hintz opened the scoring at the 12:49 mark of the first period on his third goal of the postseason on assists from Mats Zuccarello and Jason Dickinson. Miro Heiskanen made it 2-0 with 6:21 left in the first on assists by Hintz and Zuccarello. The Blues trimmed it to 2-1 later in the first, but 26 seconds later a Mattias Janmark goal off a Dickinson assist pushed it back to 3-1. Following a scoreless second period, St. Louis made it a 3-2 game early in the third. It stayed at that score until a Hintz empty-net goal with three seconds left on a Jamie Benn assist clinched it.  Ben Bishop registered 32 saves on 34 shots in the winning effort.

NHL Betting Trends

St. Louis

The Blues are 5-0 in their last five games as an underdog. St. Louis is 4-1 in its last five Monday games.

The Stars are 4-1 in the last five meetings in Dallas. The favorite is 1-4 in the last five meetings.

Dallas did what it had to do and took a game in St. Louis and now gets to try and take advantage of being on its home ice. Bishop has had a fantastic season and the Stars' depth showed up on the scoreboard in Game 2. If Dallas gets a stronger performance from its top line plus contributions from elsewhere, it should be in great shape to win again tonight. Binnington is a rookie goaltender and we can't expect him to be flawless in his first season in the playoffs.
