Public Betting Information
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Predators are a -170 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Jets are a +150 underdog, while the over-under sits at 5.5 goals. Hellebuyck stars in series opener
Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been a revelation all season for Winnipeg and it continued in Game 1 Friday night in Nashville. Hellebuyck recorded 47 saves and only allowed one goal to slip by him in the 4-1 Jets victory. The Predators cut their deficit to 3-1 in the third period on a goal by Kevin Fiala, but Hellebuyck and Winnipeg would not let it get any closer. Hellebuyck had recorded back-to-back shutouts to complete the five-game series win in the first round against Minnesota, so he is red-hot right now. He carries a 1.77 goals-against average and .940 save percentage in the postseason into Game 2.
Subban logs over 28 minutes
Nashville defenseman P.K. Subban did not have his best outing in Game 1 as he did not register a point and was minus-3, but he was on the ice for 28:24 and is the clear lead defenseman for his squad. The next-leading Predators player in minutes played is fellow defenseman Mattias Ekholm with 22:48. Subban was around 24 minutes of ice time in the series against Colorado, although he did log 27:03 one game. He has three assists in seven playoff games, all coming in wins. During the regular season, Subban notched 16 goals and 43 assists 82 games played.
NHL Betting Trends
Winnipeg
The Jets are 5-11 in their last 16 games in Nashville. The under is 7-1 in the last eight Winnipeg games overall.
Nashville
The under is 5-0-1 in the last six Predators conference quarterfinals games. The home team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.
Prediction:
Hellebuyck is obviously red-hot and Nashville has a strong goalie as well in battle-tested Pekka Rinne plus a top-notch defense. I’m going to say goals will be very hard to come by here and it appears to me the under is the right side to be on.
