Stars edged in Game 1

Dallas was unable to find the tying goal in the third period Thursday night at St. Louis as it lost 3-2 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. The Stars trailed 1-0 through one period, but Jason Spezza evened it up midway through the second period on a goal assisted by John Klingberg and Mats Zuccarello. The Blues went back ahead later in the second, while adding another goal early in the third to push the Dallas deficit to 3-1. Jamie Benn trimmed it to 3-2 on the power play with 2:17 remaining on an assist from Roope Hintz, but were unable to find the equalizer. Ben Bishop surrendered three goals on 20 shots in the defeat.

Tarasenko guides Blues to win

St. Louis earned a 3-2 victory in Game 1 Thursday night at home over Dallas in the Western Conference quarterfinals. The Blues grabbed a 1-0 advantage on a Robby Fabbri goal 5:51 into the first period with assists going to Ivan Barbashev and Colton Parayko. After the Stars tied it up in the second period, St. Louis took the lead again at the 1:57 mark on a Vladimir Tarasenko power play goal assisted by Brayden Schenn and Alex Pietrangelo. Tarasenko added another goal of the unassisted variety 3:51 into the third period to extend the lead to 3-1. Dallas managed to cut it to 3-2, but the Blues ultimately held on. Jordan Binnington allowed two goals on 29 shots in the winning effort.

NHL Betting Trends

The Stars are 9-4 in their last 13 road games. Dallas is 3-7 in its last 10 Saturday games.

St. Louis

The Blues are 8-2 in their last 10 games as a home favorite. St. Louis is 2-6 in the last eight meetings.

This should be another tightly contested game with strong defense and goaltending. Bishop wasn't quite on his game two days ago, but I think he bounces back strongly here. The Stars have a top line that has been playing strong hockey in the postseason and I think they help manufacture enough offense today to get it done and even the series.
