Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the visiting Sharks –125 on the money line for Monday night’s game with the Kings, who are +115 on the ML. The over/under total for tonight’s game (which starts at 10:00PM ET), is currently sitting at 5 goals.
Jonathan Quick was the hero in Game 5 for the Kings, saving 51 goals to lead L.A. to a 3-1 win to keep the team’s chances alive. The Kings scored three goals in the first period, as Wayne Simmonds, Kyle Clifford and Dustin Brown all found the back of the net. Clifford and Simmonds also came away with assists, as did Rob Scuderi, Brad Richardson and Kevin Westgarth.
The Sharks struggled to get into a rhythm offensively, as Patrick Marleau was the only one to beat Quick on the night. Marleau was assisted on his goal (his second of the playoffs) by Niclas Wallin and Joe Thornton.
NHL Free Pick: The Kings have showed their resiliency throughout this first round series and quite frankly, have proven that they deserve to be on the same ice as he second-seeded Sharks. But L.A. has also shown its youth at times while coughing up a 4-0 lead in Game 3, and not responding with a strong effort in a 6-3 loss in Game 4 two nights later. According to latest NHL trends, the Sharks are 18-7 in their last 25 trips to Los Angeles and 35-17-1 in their last 53 games against the Kings. The road team is also 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams, while the Kings are 0-4 in their last four outings following a win. Take San Jose to finish off L.A. tonight.
