Maple Leafs doubled up in Game 6

Toronto lost 4-2 at home Sunday afternoon in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against Boston. The Maple Leafs struck first midway through the first period on a Morgan Rielly goal assisted by William Nylander and Patrick Marleau. The Bruins proceeded to score twice in the first period and once in the second to go up 3-1. Toronto trimmed it back to a one-goal game with 15:45 remaining in the third period on an Auston Matthews goal with assists going to Jake Gardiner and Travis Dermott. Boston put it away with an insurance goal with under two minutes remaining. Frederik Andersen registered 37 saves on 40 shots in the defeat.

Bruins survive on road

Boston forced a Game 7 Sunday with a 4-2 victory at Toronto in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Following a Maple Leafs goal with 10:18 left in the first period, the Bruins evened it up on a Brad Marchand power play goal less than two minutes later off an assist from Patrice Bergeron. Torey Krug gave Boston a 2-1 advantage with 2:58 left in the first on the power play with assists courtesy of David Pastrnak and Marchand. At the 12:03 mark of the second period, Jake DeBrusk extended it to 3-1 with assists given to David Krejci and Pastrnak. Toronto cut it back to a one-goal game in the third period, but an empty-net goal by Marchand with 1:54 remaining gave the Bruins cushion again. Zdeno Chara and Charlie McAvoy drew assists. Tuukka Rask made 22 saves on 24 shots in the winning effort.

NHL Betting Trends

The Maple Leafs are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games. The underdog is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.

The Bruins are 52-22 in their last 74 home games. Boston is 23-11 in its last 34 games overall.

Boston is very tough at home and outlasted the Maple Leafs in last year's playoff series. As much as I'd love to throw Canada a bone and pick Toronto here, I have more faith in Marchand and Bergeron and company to take care of business. They looked sharp in Game 6 on the road and there is little reason to believe that won't continue here. With Rask in net, the Bruins also have a goaltender who has played in a plethora of big games. Go with the hosts tonight.
