Toronto picked up another 4-3 OT win over Washington in Game 3 of the series on Monday night to take a 2-1 lead in the series. All three games in this series have went into overtime. Toronto comes into tonight with a 42-27-16 overall record and 22-13-7 mark at home. Washington is 56-19-10 overall and 23-12-7 on the road.
Game 3 had the same score as Game 2, but the pace of the game was much different. Game 2 featured over 100 shots, while Game 3 had just 54 combined between the two teams. Toronto was the physical squad, racking up 42 hits to go with its 28 shots. The Capitals got off to a 2-0 lead on goals from Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin. They would also establish a 3-1 lead in the second before Toronto rallied back. Nazem Kadri and William Nylander scored late in the second to make it 3-3. Early in the overtime period, Tyler Bozak scored to give the Leafs the win.
Bet on Maple Leafs vs. Capitals
Neither goalie played well on Monday night and it leads to a crucial game for the Capitals tonight. Washington can’t afford to go down 3-1, especially with its history. However, the Maple Leafs aren’t looking like a team that is going to back down, especially at home. Toronto has been able to play with Washington every step of the way in this series and I don’t see why it would chance tonight. The Capitals have a stigma that is hard for them to get rid of. I say take your chances on Toronto at home.
