Jets prevail again on road
Neither team has won at home yet in this series as Winnipeg took Game 4 Tuesday night by a count of 2-1 in overtime over St. Louis to draw even in the series. Kyle Connor scored the game-winner with 13:58 left in the first overtime on assists from Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. The contest was scoreless through two periods before the Blues got on the board first 35 seconds into the third period. Scheifele evened it up at 1-1 at the 12:27 mark on assists courtesy of Connor and Wheeler. Connor Hellebuyck surrendered only one goal on 32 shots in the winning effort.
Blues fall in overtime
St. Louis could not manufacture the winner Tuesday night in a 2-1 home loss to Winnipeg in overtime as the best-of-7 quarterfinals series is now even at two games apiece. After the game moved into the third period without a goal, Vladimir Tarasenko broke the deadlock in the first minute on assists from Alex Pietrangelo and Ryan O’Reilly. The Jets scored the tying goal seven minutes later before adding the winner in the extra session. Jordan Binnington stopped 37 shots on 39 attempts in the defeat. Tarasenko accounted for six of the Blues’ 32 shots on goal.
NHL Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Blues are 4-0 in their last four games as an underdog. The road team is 6-0 in the last six meetings.
Winnipeg
The Jets are 13-5 in the last 18 meetings. Winnipeg is 68-31 in its last 99 home games.
Prediction:
Something has to give here. Teams are supposed to have the advantage at home, but apparently not when these two evenly matched squads lock horns. But the Jets have had a fantastic home advantage the last few years and in a big Game 5 tonight, I think that will be a big factor. Winnipeg is getting good goaltending from Hellebuyck and there is plenty of firepower up front to solve a tough Blues defense plus a stellar rookie goaltender in Binnington. This one will probably go down to the wire again, but I see the Jets coming out on top for a third straight game.
