Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Canadiens +103 on the money line against the visiting Bruins, who are –111 on the ML. The over/under for tonight’s game is currently sitting at 5 goals and the puck drops at 7:30PM ET.
The Habs might be the surprise of the first round so far. They beat the Bruins 2-0 in Game 1 of the series, as goaltender Carey Price saved all 31 of the shots he saw from Boston. Brian Gionta also had a big night, scoring both of Montreal’s goals, while center Scott Gomez finished with two assists.
In Game 2 on Saturday, the Habs again beat the Bruins in Montreal, this time by a score of 3-1. Price saved 34 of the 35 shot attempts, while Michael Cammalleri, Mathieu Darche and Yannick Weber all finished with one goal apiece. Heading into Game 3 tonight, Montreal now holds a 2-0 series advantage on Boston.
NHL Free Pick: I nearly took Montreal tonight but I think the Habs might get Boston’s best effort and there’s a natural let up for a team that took two games on the road to start a series and now plays at home. With the way that both goaltenders are playing, I like the under. The under hit in 44 of the Bruins’ 74 games this season and in 48 of Montreal’s 74 games, including in 19 of the Habs’ 34 home games. According to latest NHL trends, the under is 4-0-1 in the Bruins’ last five games overall and is 5-0-1 in the Habs’ last six games overall. Take the under and watch Price and Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas do their thing.
