Toronto won Game 2 of the series this weekend, 4-3 in OT. That evened up the series, with both games going to overtime thus far. Toronto is coming into today’s game 41-27-16 overall and 21-13-7 at home while Washington is 56-19-9 overall and 23-12-6 on the road.
Game 2 went to double overtime before Kasperi Kapanen scored the game-winning goal to even the series. The goal came on the 51st shot for the Leafs, while Washington had 50. Nicklas Backstrom forced the overtime with a goal in the third period, 12:39 into the frame. Toronto had the edge in some of the key stats, winning 61 of the 100 faceoffs that took place and they also had just 17 giveaways to 28 for Washington.
Bet on Maple Leafs vs. Capitals
There has been no reason to believe Toronto is outmatched in this series thus far. The Maple Leafs certainly have to be feeling this as well heading to home. Toronto has given the Capitals all they can handle in Washington and the momentum should pick up a touch at home as well. Frederik Andersen is playing well enough to give Toronto a chance and their attack is producing a lot of shots. I am going to take my chances on Toronto as a home underdog, especially against a franchise known for playoff letdowns.
