Thursday NHL Playoff Free Pick
(The Spread) – The first round of the NHL playoffs continues tonight when the Philadelphia Flyers host the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30PM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Flyers –148 money line favorites over the Sabres, who are +136 on the ML. The over/under total for this game is currently 5.5 goals.
The Sabres enter the playoffs with a 43-29-9-1 overall record and went 22-13-6-0 on the road during the regular season. The over was 42-38 in all Buffalo games this year, and 20-20 when the Sabres played on the road.
The Flyers come into tonight’s game sporting a 47-23-5-7 overall record and are 22-12-2-5 at home. According to latest NHL trends, the under is 45-37 in all Philadelphia games this year and 24-17 when the Flyers have played at home.
NHL Playoff Free Pick: There are a ton of question marks surrounding the Flyers coming into the playoffs, perhaps none bigger than their goaltending situation. Before beating the Islanders 7-4 last Saturday, the Flyers had lost five in a row and six of their previous seven games. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to start against Vezina Trophy winner Ryan Miller and has struggled recently, going 7-7-5 in his last 22 appearances. The Sabres are 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams and 4-0 in their last four games overall. They’re also 13-6 in their last 19 road games, while the Flyers are 0-6 in their last six home games versus a team with a winning road record. At +136 on the money line, take a shot with a confident Buffalo team at a nice price.
