NHL Eastern Conference Odds
(TheSpread) – It has been over a decade since Washington last won the Eastern Conference Championship in the NHL, but the Capitals are the favorite to do it this year.
The Capitals have 11/5 odds to win the conference according to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com. Other short odds to win the East are Philadelphia (3/1), Boston (7/2), and Pittsburgh (11/2).
The Capitals last won the Eastern Conference in 1998. This year, the Caps are the No. 1 seed with 107 points, but they were the top seed last year and lost in the opening round. Washington scored 224 goals and allowed 197. Washington won the Southeast Division. They will face the Rangers to start the playoffs.
Philadelphia has won the East 8 times and is the defending champion. The Flyers are the No. 2 seed in the East with 106 points. The Flyers scored 259 goals and allowed 223. Philadelphia won the Atlantic Division and they will face Buffalo in the first round of the playoffs.
Boston won the Northeast Division to get the third seed in the playoffs. The Bruins have scored 246 goals and allowed 195. Boston last won the conference title in 1990. Boston will take on Montreal in the first round.
The Penguins are the No. 4 seed in the East and they will face Tampa Bay in the opening round. The Penguins scored 238 goals this season and allowed 199. The Penguins have won four conference titles, with the last coming in 2009.
