Bruins doubled up at Red Wings
Boston lost by a count of 6-3 Sunday night at Detroit to fall to 47-23-9 on the season. The Red Wings led 2-0 through one period, but the Bruins stormed back with three goals in the second to grab a 3-2 advantage through 40 minutes. Jake DeBrusk scored his 25th goal of the season 2:01 in to cut it to 2-1 on assists from David Krejci and Charlie McAvoy. Brad Marchand evened it up with a shorthanded goal midway through the period as Patrice Bergeron and Brandon Carlo assisted. David Backes put Boston up 3-2 with a minute left in the second as assists went to Kevan Miller and Krejci. Detroit proceeded to score three unanswered goals in the third period to put it away. Jaroslav Halak surrendered five goals on 27 shots in the losing effort.
Blue Jackets shut out Sabres
Columbus earned a fifth straight victory Sunday night at Buffalo to continue its quest to qualify for the playoffs. The Blue Jackets (45-30-4) took a 1-0 lead 7:14 in on a goal by Pierre-Luc Dubois off assists from Seth Jones and Zach Werenski. Oliver Bjorsktrand made it 2-0 six-plus minutes later with assists going to Dubois and Nick Foligno. Foligno added another goal later in the third period off an assist by Ryan Dzingel. Josh Anderson added his 29th goal of the season with 4:29 left in the second period as Dubois and Dzingel assisted. Sergei Bobrovsky saved all 38 shots sent his way to record the shutout.
NHL Betting Trends
Boston
The Bruins are 4-0 in their last four games versus the Metropolitan Division. Boston is 25-7 in its last 32 Tuesday games.
Columbus
The Blue Jackets are 4-0 in their last four games as a favorite. Columbus is 5-0 in its last five home games.
Prediction:
Boston might be having the better overall season, but Columbus is playing the better hockey at the moment as it is in a tight race to qualify for the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Blue Jackets have been dominant at home as of late and will be up for this game for sure against an opponent coming off a defeat against the lowly Red Wings. I think the smart play here is on Columbus.
