Red Wings vs. Maple Leafs Prediction
With his team playing the role of spoiler, Mike Babcock and the Maple Leafs will host a Red Wings team fighting for its playoff lives tonight at 7:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Red Wings are -145 money line favorites to beat the Maple Leafs, who have odds of +125 to pull off the upset. As for the total, the number currently sits at 5.5 goals.
After Jimmy Howard led the Red Wings to a win over the Wild on Friday night, a struggling Petr Mrazek will start between the pipes tonight in Toronto. Mrazek is coming off a loss on Tuesday night in which he was pulled after allowing two goals on just seven shots versus Montreal.
Toronto will counter with Jonathan Bernier, who stopped 32 of 34 shots in a 5-2 win over the Panthers on Tuesday. He hasn't allowed more than two goals in a game since March 5 and is 4-2-0 during that stretch. With their influx of youth and care-free attitude with noting to play for, the Maple Leafs have played well of late, especially at home where they're 5-2 in their last seven games.
The Red Wings have lost four of their last five games coming off a win and are just 4-11 in their last 15 road games. They're also an awful 1-10 in their last 11 games playing on back-to-back nights.
