Capitals vs. Avalanche Prediction
Braden Holby will be in net tonight for the Capitals when they visit the Avalanche at 9:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Capitals are -130 money line favorites versus the Avalanche, who are +110 to pull off the upset at home. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 5 goals.
Holtby was the first goalie off the ice following the morning skate, which is an indication that he’ll start tonight. He owns a 2.17 GAA and a .924 save percentage in 62 games this season, although he’s coming off a loss in a 2-1 defeat versus the Flyers. Still, he made 33 saves in the loss.
The Avalanche will counter with Semyon Varlamov, who has allowed three goals in each of his last four starts. He owns a 2.69 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage in 53 contests. Varlamov’s defense hasn’t been great in front of him either.
The Capitals are 4-1 in their last five road games versus a team with a losing home record and are 42-16 in their last 58 games overall. They’re also 19-9 in their last 28 games after allowing two goals or less in their previous game and have won 38 of their last 53 games playing on one day of rest.
