Flames dominate Ducks

Calgary scored six unanswered goals Friday night in a 6-1 home victory over the Ducks. After giving up a goal midway through the first period, the Flames (48-23-7) evened it up five-plus minutes later on a Mark Giordano goal assisted by Sean Monahan. Monahan scored his 32nd goal of the season early in the second period to give Calgary a 2-1 advantage off assists from Rasmus Andersson and Elias Lindholm. James Neal added a power play goal later in the second with assists going to Monahan and Austin Czarnik. Derek Ryan extended the lead to three goals in the third off an assist by T.J. Brodie. Garnet Hathaway scored the next goal with assists courtesy of Travis Hamonic and Ryan. Monahan completed the scoring in the final minute of the game with his 33rd goal off assists from Johnny Gaudreau and Noah Hanifin. Mike Smith registered 21 saves on 22 shots in the winning effort.

Sharks snap skid

San Jose earned a seven-game losing streak Saturday night with a 4-3 home win in overtime over Las Vegas to improve to 44-25-9 on the season. Brent Burns scored the game-winning goal 22 seconds into overtime on assists by Logan Couture and Kevin Labanc. San Jose trailed 1-0 through one period before evening the score at 1-1 on the 35th goal of the season by Tomas Hertl. It was assisted by Joonas Donskoi and Timo Meier. The Golden Knights again grabbed the lead later in the second, but Evander Kane tied the score at 2-2 with an unassisted goal 7:22 into the third period. Marc-Edouard Vlasic gave San Jose a 3-2 advantage four minutes later on an assist by Couture. Las Vegas proceeded to tie it again less than a minute later and the game remained tied until the extra session. Martin Jones made 23 saves on 26 shots to secure the win.

NHL Betting Trends

Calgary

The Flames are 19-7 in their last 26 Sunday games. Calgary is 7-3 in its last 10 games overall.

San Jose

The Sharks are 6-1 in their last seven Sunday games. San Jose is 38-17 in its last 55 games versus the Pacific Division.

Prediction:

All signs for me point to Calgary here. It is the best team points-wise in the Western Conference and has a day of rest coming into this game, while the Sharks were struggling mightily and played last night. San Jose needed overtime to end its losing skid and I don't like their chances playing with fatigue here against such a strong opponent that is coming off a dominant performance two nights ago.
