Rangers vs. Hurricanes Prediction
Cam Ward has been solid of late for the Hurricanes but will he receive enough offense when Carolina hosts the Rangers tonight at 7:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rangers are -140 money line favorites over the Hurricanes, who have odds of +120 to pull off the upset at home. The total, meanwhile, sits at 5 goals for tonight's game.
Ward allowed just one goal on 33 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. He made several great saves to keep his team in the game but Carolina produced next to nothing offensively. He's now 21-16-10 on the season and has allowed just three goals in his last two starts.
After allowing three goals on 32 shots in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins, Henrik Lundqvist is expected to start tonight between the pipes for New York. He's 33-19-6 on the year with a 2.40 goals-against-average and owns a .922 save percentage this season. Lundqvist has been merely average in March, but he might be due for one of his sensational performances again.
Both goalies should play well tonight but the difference will be New York's offensive ability and the fact that the Rangers have had so much success in Carolina in previous meetings. New York is 9-1 in its last 10 road games versus Carolina and the Rangers are 36-16-1 in their last 53 games overall versus the Canes. Carolina has also dropped seven of nine coming into tonight and New York is well rested having three days off in between games.
