Avalanche vs. Blues Prediction
The Blues are red-hot and the biggest reason is because of the play from their goaltenders. The Avalanche will try their hand at trying to defeat Brian Elliott when they visit St. Louis tonight at 8:30PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Blues are -245 money line favorites over the Avalanche, who have odds of +205 to pull off the upset on the road. As for the total, the number sits at 5 goals and carries a-120 juice on the over.
Elliott has been ridiculous for the Blues this season. He was chosen as the second star of the week after stopping all 52 shots he faced in two appearances to give him three consecutive shutouts since his return to the lineup from a knee injury. Elliott is 20-7-6 on the year with four shutouts, a league-leading 1.95 GAA and a .934 save percentage in 37 appearances in 2015-16.
One night after picking up the win in a 4-3 upset over the Predators, Semyon Varlamov will be back in net tonight for Colorado. He made 32 saves in the victory, 14 of which came in the third period alone. He’s now 27-20-3 on the season but still hasn’t looked like himself at times in 2015-16. His defense has also been an issue in front of him.
The Avalanche are 23-55 in their last 78 games playing on no rest and have also dropped eight of 10 in St. Louis. On the other side, the Blues are currently on a four-game winning streak, are 12-2 in their last 14 games coming off a win, and have won five of their last seven home games.
