Things went much better for Buffalo’s Chad Johnson on Saturday. He allowed two goals in the first period to the Winnipeg Jets but then was perfect the rest of the way as the Sabres won, 3-2. The 29-year-old is now 19-5-3 on the year with a 2.39 goals-against-average and owns a .918 save percentage.
Detroit is in a tailspin as it desperately tries to stay in playoff contention. But the Red Wings are just 1-4 in their last five games coming off a loss of three or more goals and they’re 2-5 in their last seven when their opponent allows two goals or less in their previous game. Johnson enters play as the hotter goaltender and thus, Buffalo is worth a play as a heavy dog.
