Devils vs. Hurricanes Prediction
An upset could be brewing in Carolina this evening when the Hurricanes host the New Jersey Devils at 5:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hurricanes are -125 money line favorites to beat the Devils, who have odds of +105 to pull off the small upset. The total, meanwhile, sits at 5 goals.
Scott Wedgewood has been excellent in his brief starts for New Jersey this season, as the 23-year-old is 2-0-1 with a 0.66 goals-against-average and a .978 save percentage. He allowed just one goal on 26 shots in Friday's 1-0 overtime loss to the Capitals, which was Wedgewood's first loss of his career.
After Eddie Lack played in net Saturday for the Hurricanes, Cam Ward will get the starting nod today versus the Devils. Lack saved 33 of 37 shots in the loss and has allowed 10 goals in his last three starts. The more staggering statistic is how Lack faced a whopping 123 shots during that span. Ward's defense doesn't figure to be much better for him today.
The Hurricanes are 1-6 in their last seven games overall, 1-4 in their last five home games and have dropped five of six versus opponents from the Eastern Conference. The Devils have also taken five of the last seven meetings between these two teams when the game is played in Carolina.
