Panthers vs. Rangers Prediction
The Panthers have played decent hockey of late but they've struggled against opponents with winning records. That's problematic heading into their matchup tonight with the Rangers.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Rangers are -135 money line favorites over the Panthers, who have odds of +115 to pull off the upset. As for the total, the number currently sits at 5 goals.
Florida enters play with a 5-4-1 record over its last 10 games while New York is 4-4-2 over its last 10 contests. The Panthers are also 18-13-2 on the road this season while the Rangers are a healthy 23-8-3 inside Madison Square Garden in 2015-16.
The Panthers looked great in back-to-back wins over struggling Montreal and Toronto before running into Detroit at home on Saturday. The Red Wings tallied five goals in a 5-3 victory to hand the Panthers only their second loss in their last six games. But the loss was also symbolic of the issues that Florida has had against winning teams of late. With that loss, the Panthers are now 0-6 in their last six games versus opponents with winning records.
Despite winning just once over their last five games, the Rangers should avoid their first three-game home losing streak in the regular season since an 0-4-1 stretch in December 2-12 in 2013. Henrik Lundqvist had won six straight starts versus the Panthers before losing in January but his 1.91 GAA against Florida matches his second-lowest against any opponent.
